The Delta State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Omatsola Williams has said that adoption process is not an easy task which was necessitated by the quest to fight those that want to buy children at all cost.

Omatsola stated this on Monday, August 13, 2018 during 2018 Ministerial Press Briefing noting that the heavily tasking adoption process has declined the rate of children been bought over by desperate people in the state.

The Commissioner while speaking on the modalities for adoptions, emphasized that, “there is no already made children anywhere, the children are not kept in one place, like in some sort of warehouse or store. If you apply, it could take up to a year or two as adoption process is a gradual and takes time.”

She disclosed that the ministry has never had cases of inheritance and children, but cases of in-house adoption, where the direct parents might be deceased or incapacitated and a family member indicates interest to adopt the child for a better life.

While speaking on HIV/AIDS, Hon. Omatsola stated that “when we came on board, the idea of giving money to affected women was stopped, but rather we did empowerment of over N95,000 per person with adequate training and the women were entirely happy with what the items they received”
