Court: Gavel, Law Book and Scale


The State Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro has inaugurated the Family Court in Delta State, pursuant to the Child’s Right Law of Delta State 2008.

A statement by the acting Chief Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Dolor Zimi says the Family Court, which operates at both the High Court and Magistrate’s Court levels shall sit at the three senatorial districts of the State.

At the High Court level, the Court will sit at the High Court No. 4 Warri, High Court Agbor and the Ughelli High Court.

While at the Magistrate’s Court level, the Family Court shall sit at Magistrate’s Court No. 1 Asaba, Magistrate’s Court No. 1 Warri, and Magistrate’s Court No. 1 Ughelli.

The statement urged the general public, child’s right activists, stakeholders in the implementation and enforcement of the Child’s Right Law to take note of the development, even as it informed legal Practitioners to file their family causes and matters in the Family Court’s registries.
