New Delta Secretariat to Accommodate over 28 Ministries amongst Others – Sakpra

The Delta State Government has stated that the new secretariat which is a joined 3-building block with seven floors at the center and 4 floors on each side, upon completion is expected to accommodate over 28 ministries, departments and Agencies, including a crèche, banks, restaurants, recreational facilities, clinic, a standard car park, safety facilities amongst others.

The Commissioner for Special Duties, Government House, Hon. Henry Sakpra, stated these when he briefed the press on the activities and achievements of his Ministry at the 2018 Ministerial Press briefing by commissioners in Asaba , adding that the new Central Secretariat Complex is being constructed with a view to reducing the cost of renting Office Accommodation and creating a One Stop Shop for the conduct of Government activities.

Hon. Sakpra in his statement, stated that “The New Secretariat has been designed in line with international standard architecture and will be fully equipped with state of the art facilities to meet the needs of governance as captured in the SMART agenda.” stressing that the Secretariat was being built through a Public Private Partnership between the Delta State Government and North China Construction Company Limited at a total cost of N13.6 Billion.

“The State Government went through series of painstaking due process, right from the conception, design of the project and its financing having in mind the need to deliver a World Class State Secretariat”, he stated.

According to him, the Project had a completion period of 24 months and when completed, would have modern facilities which include an embedded eco-friendly power plant to guarantee steady supply of electricity and guard against pollution arising from indiscriminate use of generators , adding that six numbers of lifts, two at the central block of the building, with two each at both sides of the Complex.

The Commissioner said, “Also to be installed, is a standard water treatment and sewage plants to ensure potable water supply and proper sewage management.” he added.
