By Michael Odiah

The Delta state Chairman of Nigerian People’s Congress (NPC), Comrade Gabriel Mamuzo (JP) has said that the roads and road networking in the state capital, Asaba is a total sham, stating that the closure of the ever busy Nnebisi road at Federal Medical Center axis for two weeks due to the drainage construction, has exposed to a maximum level, the poor road network existing in the state capital.

Comrade Mamuzo who stated this while fielding questions from journalists in Asaba, stressed that the drainage project is great but an untimely move in response to the flood experienced last year in Asaba.

He submitted that over 90% of roads in the other parts of the capital territory do not befit the status of a capital city, adding that there is a pressing need for the government of the day to stop developing Asaba alone at the expense of other communities that make up the state capital.

While stressing that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has done well, the party chairman noted that, the Governor still needs to do extremely more adding that the capital territory goes beyond Asaba and also includes Oko, Ibusa and okpanam, adding that siting all government parastatal in Asaba is a wrong move which has left other parts of the capital territory underdeveloped.

Mamuzo further advised that a move should be made to ensure the dislodging of ministries that are under rent which is constantly milking the state government of its resources.
