By Michael Odiah

The Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Mr. Charles Aniagwu has said that the State Government inherited lots of burdens from the old and analogue pension scheme, as workers were not contributing their own quota at the time of its existence.

Aniagwu stated this on Tuesday, January 23,2017 during a media parley with members of the Indigenous Correspondents Chapel (ICC) of the Delta State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Chapel’s Secretariat, stressing that the State Government now has to go an extra mile to pay for a back log of N25bn, “the payments are being made in tranches as it will be a very huge blow to the government if paid at once mostly in this time of recession”.

While highlighting the achievements of the Okowa administration, the CPS disclosed that the Asaba Stadium project is at top gear and to be completed by April/May of this year, adding that the DLA, Jesus Saves and environs 10 feet diameter drainage system is also at top gear, with asphalt tarring to commence after the drainage project is completed.

He further disclosed that SETRACO is to take over construction works of the Asaba Airport project as ULO Consultants Limited has officially pulled out.
