Solomon Ahwinahwi, during the Official Commissioning (Flag-Off) of the Rolling Mill of Premium Steel (PSML) and Mines Limited Plant, at Ovwian-Aladja, Delta State.

Host Communities to Premium Steel and Mines Limited, PSML formerly known as Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State has appealed to Udu people to give the company a chance to bring the moribund Federal Government establishment to life.

The Host Communities explains that the misunderstanding that existed between the company and the host communities in recent weeks was a result of communication gap.

The Host Communities said PSML had the best of intentions to get the company to full production status.

In a statement shortly after a meeting with the management of the company, Chairman and Secretary of the Core Host Communities to PSML, Comrade Emmanuel Kpomanefe and Mr. Lucky Abeyi respectively declared that having been brought into the picture of how some obsolete machines and equipment were laid off in the plant, they have come to the conclusion that the allegations of assets stripping leveled against the company was uncalled for and totally out of place.

They described as unfortunate the misunderstanding that gave room to the allegations just as it appealed to the company to bridge the communication gap between the company and its hosts through the engagement of Community Liaison Officers for the five core host communities so as to avoid the spread of “unfortunate misinformation” as well as avoidable propaganda that could impugn the integrity of the company.

The communities pledged to henceforth work closely with the company by crosschecking every information before making same public, noting that the company had good intentions and that with the new trucks and modern digital equipment now in place to replace the obsolete and outdated ones, Premium Steel deserves commendation rather than condemnation stressing that they should be given the enabling environment to operate without let.

They added that from the information gathered from the company, there is going to be a bumper harvest of unimaginable benefits that would accrue to the communities once the entire resuscitation process is completed

The host communities urged all Udu and Delta Communities to evolve a synergy with the new investors so that they can bring their good intentions and innovative capabilities to bear on the company for good of all.

‘’We are glad that all the issues raised in our queries have been resolved. The company has demonstrated in clear terms and very convincingly that they meant well and on high gear towards getting the plant revamped. It is unfortunate that we were not properly guided and informed of the true state of things. We are satisfied with the explanation provided by the company top management staff.

“The future is bright for the company and in no time everything shall be fine. We have lifted all embargoes against the company. We have resolved to support the company to succeed. Everything is okay now”.
