Noble Youth Mass Support Association

Noble Youth Mass Support Association (NYMSA), a non-political pressure group has strongly condemned the wanton killings that was unleashed on three local government areas of Plateau state by suspected herdsmen.

The group through its National Coordinator, Hon. Godwin Ochoga Onmonya, in a press statement issued to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, condemned the evil act, adding that the group was alarmed that no fewer than 86 lives, as confirmed by the police, lost their lives including defenceless women and children, saying that “NYMSA condemns in the strongest possible terms the killing of civilians and destruction of property in Plateau state over the weekend”.

“We are concerned by the recent increase in armed violence against civilians and call on all political and community leaders to find lasting solutions to these conflicts”, the statement read in parts.

Onmonya also urged the Federal Government in the spirit of NYMSA, not to rest until the criminals were brought to book, taking cognizance of the fact that, “we are at a loss on how scores of people can be killed without any form of resistance by soldiers deployed to contain the security challenge”, adding that “the relations of victims of these attacks need more than assurances and promises of tracking down these criminals,” he added.

Speaking further, Hon. Onmonya said, “we join Plateau state in sending our deepest condolences to the affected communities, and in the desire to see the perpetrators brought to justice.”

He stressed that the attacks in Plateau state has shown that the Federal Government needs to review its security machinery in a bid to make it effective, noting that the noble association would continue to pray for the peaceful coexistence of the nation for economic development.
