Edo APC Youths Pass Vote of Confidence on Governor Obaseki

The youth wing of the Edo All Progressives Congress, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 passed a vote of implicit confidence on the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his administration for delivering on his electioneering campaign promises during the last governorship election in the state.

It would be recalled that Members of the All Progressives Congress under the aegis of Aggrieved APC Youths, Monday, threatened to withdraw their support from Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki for his lack of sensitivity to the plight of those who worked assiduously for his emergence in the last governorship election in the state.

He said there is no point working for a man who has used and dumped them after emerging as the governor of the state.

The group, also disassociated itself from the protest of the Aggrieved APC Youths earlier led by Tony Kabaka.

Addressing newsmen in Benin City, the party youth leader, Valentine Asuen said Mr. Tony Kabaka has no moral rectitude to have led people in protest against the government that he has benefited immensely from but to cooperate with the present administration to move the state forward.

He also said it was out of point for him to have accused the state government of neglecting the youths in the state noting that few months into his administration, the governor made it clear that one of his major goals is to create nothing less than 200,000 jobs for Edo people and residents and that from available records, the youths have been the major beneficiaries.

He said the state governor, established Edojobs portal through which thousands of Edo youths have been gainfully employed while others have been trained on several skills.

He said thousands of Edo youths have been engaged through the Public Works Volunteer scheme headed by Muktaru Yusuf and the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) who are adding value to governance on a daily basis.

Asuen alleged that Mr. Tony Kabaka failed to upgrade himself and thus could not fit into the working scheme of the present administration.

“Does Kabaka want the jobs of technocrats with multiple post-graduate degrees and several years of work experience? How will he function?

“At this point, I wish to ask Tony Kabaka to produce his certificate in any vocation or profession so that he can be duly engaged.

“Until he does that, we will continue to disregard the decibel of noise he is making.

“We Edo APC youths also wish to state that Kabaka was wrong when he said he was speaking for the Edo youths. Tony Kabaka is a grandfather with children that are already having children.

“He does not fit into the global youth age bracket and cannot speak for any Edo youth or Edo APC youths”, he said.

He refuted the claim that the governor has retired some notable politicians in the state noting that party membership is voluntary and all the leaders are all accorded the respect they deserve.
