The member representing Ika South Local Government Area in the Delta State House of Assembly and the convener of ‘The Okowa we know, Hon. Festus Okoh, has stressed the need for Deltans to ensure the re-election of the state Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, in 2019.
Hon. Okoh stated this over the weekend during a mega rally held by members of the group drawn from the 25 Local Government Areas at the Government Field, Agbor.
He called on Deltans not to believe the propaganda of members of opposition parties, but to look at the good works of the Governor in all the local government areas in the state despite the paucity of funds and vote for Dr. Okowa again in 2019.
Hon. Okoh asked them to go back to their Local Government Areas and intensify their sensitisation and mobilisation of support for the Governor’s re-election.
He noted that Delta has been a Peoples’ Democratic (PDP) state since on onset of the present dispensation and urged Deltans to come out in their numbers to vote and return the Governor to Government House in 2019.
A former member of the State House of Assembly and Delta Central Senatorial District Co-Convener of the group, Olorogun Hon. Talib Tebite, in his speech, said that Dr. Okowa knew that he will become the Governor of the state so he came prepared to serve the people, adding that the massive infrastructural developmental achievements of the Governor is a confirmation of his preparedness to serve.
The Executive Chairman of Ika South Local Government Council, Hon. Barr. Victor Okoh, and the PDP Chairman in the local government, Hon. Collins Bello, called on the people who have not registered for their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to do so immediately and those who have registered already should go and collect theirs to enable them vote for Governor Okowa again in 2019.
During the ceremony, Hon. Tebite moved a motion that Dr. Okowa be returned to office next year and it was unanimously adopted after it was seconded by the Ika South Local Government Executive Chairman, Hon. Victor Okoh.
High point of the event was the unveiling of a portrait of the Governor.
